My first rant in almost 5 months… it’s not that I’ve been blissfully happy, but I’ve been pretty okay with certain things. Not this morning!! Since we are exactly 10 months away from the 2004 Presidental Election, George Dubaya has decided to get some votes early. How? He’s doing it by promising to allow illegal immigrants to keep their jobs and granting them some sort of visa that will give them free reign. So let’s look at this for a second shall we? People who got into the U.S. illegally and have fradulent documentation such as Social Security cards are now able to work legally and take American dollars back to wherever they came from. Hmm… He states that this will curb the tide of illegal immigrants. Yeah… sure. And giving away free booze at a liquor store will curb alcoholism. What in God’s name is he thinking besides “I want the Hispanic vote?” Do you honestly think that these people who come here will say “Yes. Sign me up so I can pay taxes and then be expected to leave after 3 years?” No way! Why ruin a good thing? They come to the U.S. and get fake papers. They take low-paying jobs and drive unlicense vehicles. They get paid enough to pay rent and buy Coors Light so why would they tattle on themselves to lose that income on taxes for a country they are taking advantage of? It’s like calling a satellite company and saying “Oh… I downloaded the codes for your premium channels a year ago and have been watching them for free, but I’m going to come clean now.” No way! I will give you that Dubaya, for all his faults, is emerging as the best of (yet another) bad bunch come November, but I don’t know if I can vote for him after this latest brain-fart! When I was looking into who to vote for, I did a lot of surface research on Howard Dean. Sure, reading his sponsored web-sites will give you a great picture and make you think he’s a great choice! Then you read CNN.com and FoxNews.com and MSNBC.com and see what he’s doing without the “elect-me” slant on his sites. A little different picture emerges. So then I say “Oh cool. Wesley Clark is coming!” I do the same for him… then I come to find out he wanted to have WWIII started when he was commanding the head of the British forces to kick the Russian forces out of the area when he was NATO commander. Ok… maybe I can live with that, but not really. Now he just can’t decide which end of the fence to stay on. He slides throughthe slats with ease and changes his mind too damn often. No way! I want a decisive presidentthanks! So where does that leave me in exactly 11 months? I guess Ralph Nader is getting a vote from me…
